Panel 1

I love to paint everything from grand architecture to everyday life. My watercolors and urban sketches are inspired by my excursions around the U.S., India, Europe, and especially, my “weird” city of Austin, TX.

As I look back over time, I find that watercolor has taught the former perfectionist in me to loosen up. I’ve learned to let the paint flow how it wishes, to not overwork my paintings, and to enjoy the results. Thankfully, this “let-go-and-enjoy-the-results” mentality has spilled over into my non-painting life as well. I am much more relaxed and find myself focusing less on petty things. So, for me, painting is not only a passion, it has become a better way of living.

My whole life has been filled with color and my paintings reflect it. I am eternally inspired by the rich colors of the clothes, festivals, and food of my Indian heritage, the muted colors found in nature and old European cities, and the happy colors of Austin, TX. Color has the power to uplift the spirit. And that is my goal. I want people to feel joy when they experience art.
